LABORER

Primary Purpose:
Perform duties on crew to assist Pipe layers, Carpenters, Pile Drivers, and Grade Crews in their Operations.    

     

Typical Duties:


• Ability to drive a vehicle;

• Run errands and performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hand tools;

• Lifts, carries, push, pulls and holds construction materials, tools and supplies;

• Cleans and sorts tools, equipment, and materials;

• Cleans work area, parking lots, and offices as directed;

• Assist Pipe layers, Carpenters, Pile Drivers, and Grade Crews in their Operations;

• Signals operator, with hand signals, to guide operator in lifting and moving loads;

• Place concrete, fine grade dirt, stone ;

• Handle miscellaneous materials that will be delivered on trucks;

• Install/repair erosion control devices;

• Install/repair MOT Devices

• Perform duties as instructed by Foreman and/or Superintendent

     

Requirements:


Workers should be able to:
• Follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards.



Physically, workers must be able to:

• Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds;

• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).  

• Work in outdoor conditions ( Rain, Heat, Dusty environment)

CRANE OPERATOR

General Position Summary:

Operates friction and hydraulic  diesel cranes (lattice boom, large hydraulic, small hydraulic) to handle and move products, equipment or materials on land and water.

 

Typical Duties:



· Pushes and pulls levers and depresses pedals to raise, lower and rotate boom and to raise and lower load line in response to signals.

· Perform and assist with routine inspections and lubrication of cables, pulleys, guides, and drums.

· May be known according to material moved or equipment controlled

 

Requirements:



Workers should be able to:

· Practice good safety habits

· Work in dusty or dirty surroundings

· Work in a marine environment

· Follow instructions and meet set standards

· Judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards

· Physically workers must be able to stoop, bend and crouch, use hands, arms and legs fully, climb on and off of barges

· See well (either naturally or with correction)

· Lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

· Must have at least 1 year experience

· NCCCO certification is required for the specific type of crane to be operated



Preferred:



· Experience operating ringers or crawler cranes on barges in a marine setting

Surveyor Non-Exempt

 

Reports To: Surveyor Superintendent, Surveyor Manager

 

General Positon Summary

Surveyor provides surveying services to company supervisors and craft to ensure construction work complies with all appropriate standards.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities

 

· Responsible for the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation

· Ability to perform all roadway and bridge layout and a full understanding of agency standards and specifications

· Ability to run and reduce horizontal and vertical controls for the project

· Perf calculations for vertical and horizontal layout

· Preparation and maintenance of as-built drawing for the project

· Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and placement quantities

· Provide quantity calculations as required

· Ability to manage and integrate data into grade control systems and GPS data collectors

· RLS, PLS or PE accreditation preferred Education and/or Experience

5 years minimum running a field crew, who can read plans, do field calculations and run Trimble GPS receivers and robotic total stations.

 

Technical engineering/surveying education and/or construction surveying experience or equivalent combinations of training and related experience

Work Environment/Job Conditions:

 

This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems and conditions is required. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to tool and computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.

DRIVER/YARD LABORER


Local industry leading fence company is looking to hire a Driver/Yard Laborer in the DC/MD area. Requires a clean driving record. No CDL required. Experience driving large vehicles, such as a Ford 750, into and around tight spaces in Washington DC. Experience hauling trailers a plus as well as any vehicle maintenance experience. Hours may fluctuate depending on material delivery requirements. Employment dependent on ability to pass Company Insurance Requirements and DOT Medical Exam.  Must have reliable transportation. Preference will be given to US citizens due to contracts requiring US citizen job access. We offer an excellent salary and benefits package. 

 

Job Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and inspect material, unload trucks
  • Transport material to designated locations
  • Prepare fence products for upcoming jobs including notching/cutting/bending pipe, etc. using simple machinery and hand tools
  • Safely operate a forklift, certification a plus but not required.
  • Rotate yard stock and move materials as needed while maintaining yard inventory so stock is stored properly to eliminate damage materials
  • Maintaining product stock in the warehouse and assist in inventory counts
  • Perform routine yard and warehouse maintenance
  • Perform minor repair and maintenance on equipment/tools
  • Ensure warehouse and yard are clean and organized at all times
  • Help load necessary equipment and materials on trucks and verifying load is correctly secured to vehicle
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by team leader
